In Memoriam, Tony May

The President, Cllr. Richard Hobbs, Chairman, Bill Pickess and Committee would like to pay tribute to our Founder, Tony May, who died on 26th November aged 71.

Everyone connected with Fenprobe, listeners and volunteers, owe much to the energy and commitment of Tony and his wife Carol. Going blind in his early thirties, he founded Fenprobe Talking News in 1978. Bottles were placed all over Ely and villages, to be filled with loose change and the biggest was broken at the Red Lion at Stretham. Members of Ely's Campaign Theatre banded together to read the first news which went out in time for Christmas that year.

On the 19th December, thirty five years on, we will be reading the last news of 2013 and looking forward to 2014. I'm sure you will join us in sending our kindest thoughts and sympathy to Carol and their family.
