We are delighted to announce that Fenprobe's AGM will take place on Tuesday 28th September at 6.30 p.m. in the  Aedwen Room in Ely Museum, The Old Gaol, Market Street, Ely CB7 4LS.  Parking is available in the ECDC car park from 6.00 p.m. onwards and entrance is from the car park (Note - NOT the main museum entrance).  Please tell us if you intend to attend, as we need to be aware of an upper limit of places permitted in the room.  This will be an important meeting as our long serving chairman and secretary are both standing down and new volunteers are needed for these important posts.

01.01.2021 Death of Georgina Hole

 Georgina Hole

We are sad to report that Georgina Hole died on 10th December 2020.

Georgina came to Fenprobe in 2012 via VCAEC for whom she volunteered for many years. She introduced many volunteers to Fenprobe during her time there.

Always reliable and keen to help she was a wonderful asset to City team as a reader. When we resume “Fenprobe”, the listeners will miss her calm steady voice and delivery. The last time we saw her was at the coffee and scone fundraising event in February where she was, not for the first time, an invaluable aid in the kitchen and elsewhere.

Fenprobe friends can view a recording of her funeral on 5th January online; contact us through the website for the necessary links. Donations for the Addenbrooke’s Charitable Trust in Georgina's name will be welcome; please send to the Ely Funeral Directors, 4 Tower Road, Ely CB7 4HW.

Cam Sight supports anyone living with sight loss and is hitting the road with a new custom-built vehicle which can safely transport its low vision equipment and technology. Mike Jenkins, the charity’s chief executive, said: “Lockdown and current social distancing has been hard for the visually impaired community – this mobile unit will allow us to support more people in these challenging times.”  Cam Sight decided it needed the vehicle as many blind and visually impaired people have been forced to shield during the pandemic.  Social distancing and travelling is also challenging for them. This new specialist vehicle means the charity can do home visits and reach rurally isolated areas to offer practical and emotional help.

We are sad to inform you that Tony Mitchell passed away last Friday, 31 July.
Since joining Fenprobe in 2018 Tony had been a enormous facilitator. He originally came to record for the City Group, and ended up recording for Littleport as well and any other group needing help.  He had not been with us very long when we had to move to our present premises and he worked tirelessly to make everything ready for the recording session later in the week. Working with John Shippey, the studio was later rearranged to be more ergonomic.  He was completely at home with computers and it was good to have such an expert on hand.  Last year he was elected on to Fenprobe's organising committee and was a tremendously useful contributor.
He will be sorely missed.
